Technical principle:
Honing is a special form of grinding and a machining method in finishing. This process can not only remove large machining allowance (honing was still used as polishing in 1950s), but also is an effective machining method to improve the size, geometric precision and surface roughness of parts.
During honing, because the honing head rotates and reciprocates or the honing head rotates the workpiece reciprocates, the cutting trajectory of the face fork helix is processed, and the number of revolutions of the honing head is not an integer in each reciprocating stroke time, so the honing head is staggered at a certain angle with respect to the workpiece in the circumferential direction between two strokes, and such movement makes the movement trajectory of each abrasive particle on the honing head on the hole wall not repeat. In addition, every time the honing head rotates, there is an overlapping length between the oilstone and the cutting track of the previous rotation in the axial direction, which makes the connection between the front and back grinding tracks smoother and more uniform. In this way, in the whole honing process, every point of the hole wall and the oilstone surface has almost equal opportunities to interfere with each other. Therefore, with the honing, interference points are constantly produced on the hole surface and the oilstone surface, and these interference points are continuously ground to produce new and more interference points, which make the contact area between the hole and the oilstone surface continuously increase, the degree of mutual interference and cutting action continuously weaken, and the roundness and cylindricity of the hole and oilstone are continuously improved, and then the creation process of the hole surface is completed. In order to get better cylindricity, if possible, the parts are often turned around or the mutual position between the honing head and the workpiece in the axial direction is changed
